George Clendenin in the establishment of Fort Le e, now Charleston. Taking the four children by horseback, they followed t he trails to Teays Valley (now Putnam Co.), where they established their h ome. There they became close friends with Henry Montgomery, a Pennsylvan ia militiaman and veteran of the American Revolution.
