!BIOGRAPHY: Verbal history is that Catherine was engaged to someone that she did not want to marry in Ireland, so came to the US. On the boat, she met Michael Joseph Griffin ... first went to Detroit or Chicago, was agoverness/teacher ... then to Springfield, MA. Info from verbal family history regarding Patrick Hughes being Catherine's father, Rose Patten being her mother. Catherine was one of 17 children. One brother also came to the US, he walked off a fire escape in NYC.
