Mrs. Catherine Rochelle was born in Richmond, Va., December 6, 1836. She received a liberal education in literature and music, and was a fine pianist, being sought after to play in all the large gatherings in her vicinity. She was the mother of eleven children, only five of whom lived to maturity, and at the present time only two are living. the shock of her husband's death completely changed her from the sunny, happy woman she had always been to one of sadness. She survived until 1896. Though depressed by the grief that had been hers, she did her utmost to make the lives of those around her happy and bright.
