Carrie played the piano and organ for church services, weddings and special music, having had only one piano lisson in her life. She and her father Gilbert used to play for the dances at the Grange Hall. he played the violin and she played the pump organ.

  3. She weighed 4 1/2 pounds fully dressed and was carried around on a pilow because she was so little. She had pneumonia as a baby. She was put in a box lined with cotton batton and put on the kitchen range oven door to keep her warm.
