Carolyn and Mike Beal divorced May 17, 1960 and remarried August 11, 1974.

"Carolyn June Beal, 76, of Nevada, died of a heart attack on Saturday, July 11, at the Story County Hospital in Nevada. She was born May 27, 1922, in Pella to Thomas Nathaniel and Sarah Clementine (Hampton) Greer. She was a graduate of Nevada High School and a longtime Story County resident. She married Howard E. "Mike" Beal on June 2, 1940, in Nevada. She was owner and operator of the McCallsburg Hotel for Elderly for 10 years and was also employed by Donnelley's, Graphic Forms and as state representative for Home Health Education Services. She was a member and former secretary for the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Justice of the Peace in McCallsburg, Daughters of the American Revolution, three-year board member of MICA and founded the 50+ Club in McCallsburg. She was interested in genealogy and was the author of "The Royal Heritage of the Greers" and co-author of the "Myers Family." Her short articles were published in "The Review and Herald," and she was a columnist for the Mercer, Missouri Mirror, "Slice of Life." Survivors include her husband, Howard "Mike" of Nevada; a son, Michael David Beal of Ames; a daughter, Madora Jo Procter of South Hazelton, British Columbia, Canada; five grandchildren, Shondel Beal, Tonya Beal, Charisma Proctor, Rhett Procter and Natalie Procter; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John Preston Greer and Thomas Nathaniel Greer. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 15, at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Nevada with Pastor Charles G. Dye officiating. Burial followed in the Story Memorial Gardens in Ames. A memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements." (NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Iowa, July 16, 1998.)
