    My gggrandfather married Caroline Sentz April 18 1867 in Carroll Co. IN after his first wife died. She had three children with her at that time, Sarah, Ellen, and Liza. Caroline was b. Feb 13 1827 in Maryland. This is all I know of her and the children. I would like to know who the father of these children was and what her maiden name was.

  3. ↑ 3.0 3.1 Caroline Sentz married Isaac Shaefer in Carroll County, Indiana in 1867. The 1870 census includes three Sentz (Seace) children indicating that Sentz was a married name. The eldest of these children, Sarah was age 19. In 1850 the Joshua Sentz household included a wife Caroline and daughter Sarah age 2. This may be the same Sarah or possibly the first Sarah died and the name was used for the next child. Another thread connecting these two households is that The eldest son of Isaac and Caroline is named Joshua. It was not uncommon in the 1800's to name a child after a deceased spouse or child. More research is required to verify that the Caroline in these two census are actually the same person. The Joshua Sentz household in 1850 included a Sevilla Stonesifer, age 17 with no occupation. This is possibly the sister of Caroline and thus we assign the maiden name Stonesifer to Caroline. Again research is needed to verify this assumption.
  4.   Isaac Shaefer was enumerated with his third wife, Rosanna Huff, in 1880. Caroline must have died between the birth of her youngest child, Mary abt 1868 and 1880.
