smoked a soapstone pipe Divorce Records Daviess Cty. MO. Thursday May 17, 1866 - May Tenn 1866. "Caroline Shrum plaintiff against Henry Shrum. Now at this day came the Plaintiff in this cause by her attorney, and the said defendant, although soleumnly called comes not but makes alfault, and that this order of publication of notice to the defendant, made by the clerk of the court in nocation, being proved to the satifsfaction of the court that the same has been published according to law, in the North Missourian a newspaper published in this State and that the defendant has been notified by the order of publication aforesaid. It is therefore considered by the court that the plaintiff petition against defendant be taken for confessed. And the court finds the facts to be that on the 16th day of July 1860, a marriage was duly solemnised between said defendant and plaintiff, and further finds that the plaintiff has support, and the court further finds that the plaintiff has performed all the condition of said marriage contract on her part and that she is the innocent and injured party and has resided within this state one whole year next before filing plaintiff's petition in this cause and the court declares the law to be in favor of plaintiff and that she has a right to a divorce from defendant. It is therefore ordered and adjudged and decreed by the court that the plaintiff be and is hereby divorced from the bonds of matrimony contracted as aforesaid with defendant and that the said contract is hereby dissolved and held for nought and that the plaintiff be restored to all the rights of a single person. And is is further ordered by the court that unless the defendant be and appear on or before the last day of this next term of court, and show cause why this decree should be annulled and set aside the same will be declared firm and effective forever, and this cause be continued until the next term of this court."
