In 1917 she came to the United States and settled in Salt Lake with her sister Valborg. She worked as a domestic for some family. She had met George when he was on his mission and they had corresponded for 3 years. The romance blossomed by George coming to Salt Lake to see her and they married in the Salt Lake Temple Nov 28,1917. They lived in Deseret and Mammouth where George worked as a miner until called in the service. While he was overseas, she returned to Deseret and stayed. Their first child was a stillborn. George returned and they settled in Deseret, raised three girls. Carla was an excellent seamstress and cook. Crocheting was a beautiful talent of hers. When the girls were grown she started working at the small local hospital and became a licensed practical nurse. She was greatly admired by those she took care of and many children were given her first name. She always wanted to go back to Denmark and see the family remaining there but wasn't able to go. She died in 1960 at the age of 64, past a motor vehicle accident which could have caused a skull fracture and cerebral accident. References
