    SCHOUTEN, Carl D. - Longtime Whatcom County resident Carl D. Schouten of Lynden passed away at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus on Dec. 9, 1991. He was 80 years old. Mr. Schouten was born in Issaquah on Aug. 28, 1911, a son of Arie and Anna Schouten. He grew up in Whatcom County. He was employed primarily as a dairy farmer on the Emerson Road near Everson and worked at other various occupations until retirement. He was a member and former elder of First Christian Reformed Church in Lynden and former member and elder of Everson Christian Reformed Church. In Lynden on Oct. 31, 1931 he was married to Susie VanDalen and she survives her husband at the family home. Other survivors include three daughters, Ann Korevaar and husband Arlo of Everson, Caroline Lagerwey and husband Matt of Everson and Arlene Johnson of Woodinville; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; four brothers Arie Schouten of Lynden, Marinus Schouten of Everson, Anthony Schouten of Lynden and William "Bill" Schouten of Blaine. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gert Honcoop. Funeral services were held Friday at First Christian Reformed Church in Lynden with Rev. Philip Kok officiating. Burial followed in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden. Services and arrangements were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.
