[edit] ObituaryCarl W. Middaugh, 86, of Sugarcreek died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, in Union Hospital. He was born Dec. 24, 1921, at Sugarcreek, a son of the late Aaron J. and Elizabeth M. Schmidt Middaugh. He retired from Belden Brick in 1987 after 41 years. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in England, France and Germany and was a member of Sugarcreek American Legion Homer Weiss Post 494. He was a member of Sugarcreek United Methodist Church. He was an avid bowler at Sugarcreek Lanes Bowling Leagues and a member of the Sugarcreek Sportsman Club. His wife, Helen J. Fulk Middaugh, whom he married Dec. 2, 1943, died June 29, 2003. Surviving are six nieces and nephews...He is also preceded by three brothers, Robert, Howard and Ray, and three sisters, Grace, Marie and Lucy, and an infant son, James. Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at 11 a.m. in Butler-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek with Rev. Dairel Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover where Military Graveside services will be conducted by the Sugarcreek American Legion Homer Weiss Post 494.
