Contributed by Joe Jackson: My father, Calvin C., and his brothers were all born on the family farm near Level Station, Harlan Township. They attended school in Level Station. In 1929, or maybe 1930, they lost the farm due to mortgaging the farm to buy a second farm and not being able to make the payments because of the Great Depression. They moved to a farm near Kings Mills as tenant farmers. After high school, my father worked at the Peters Cartridge Factory for a short time and then was drafted into the Army. He was in the Air Corps and worked with radar in Canada. After WWII, Calvin attended Ohio State University for a while, then got work in construction. He met my mother, Violet E. Lang, and they were married in 1948. They lived in Lebanon, then built a house near Ridgeville, Clearcreek Township, in 1953. He built another house a few miles north in 1960 where he lived until he retired to Fort Meyers, Florida in 1991. He spent most of his life in Warren County, Ohio, and never lived in Dayton, although the house in northern Clearcreek Township had a Centerville address, sometimes shortened to Dayton. Calvin did construction work and his company, C. C. Jackson Construction Co., was based in Lebanon. He built many buildings in Warren and all the surrounding counties in southwestern Ohio. He should not be confused with another Calvin Jackson that had the Calvin Jackson Construction in Dayton.
