Calvin as child per Jean Rieper, Aug 1996 From what I hear Grandpa was an interesting man, more of a spoiled brat from what I can see. Every census up until he was married supports him being born in 1865. I think he had to swallow hard to allow Bettie Ann to be from May to Aug older than he. I'm sure he was born in 1865. He did NOT have a middle name, so he decided to give himself a middle initial of H. Believe it or not they put that H. on his Tombstone and the whole family knew he had no middle name. I have so many stories I have collected about him, but I don't think we want to put them in print.
