[Note: New Canaan is in Connecticut, Canaan seems to be the town in New York. The later is suspected of being intended as the 1850 census says born in New York. There are two Union Valley Cemeteries in New York, one in Putnam County and one in Cortland County. The one in Cortland County borders Chenango County where he lived in 1850 and 1855 according to census records.]
