From the Fort Wayne Sentinel, 17 April 1899, pg. 8, "Caleb Townsend is being tried this afternoon before Squire France on a charge of assault and battery preferred by August Jackqua." "Caleb Townsend was arrest this afternoon for assult and battery on August Jacquay." [Fort Wayne News, 18 April 1899, pg. 4.] "Caleb Townsend was fined $1 and costs for assaulting August Jacqua." [Fort Wayne News, 19 April 1899, pg. 8.] From the Fort Wayne Sentinel, 26 September 1902, pg. 1, "Affidavits in the assault case, referred to elsewhere, in which Caleb Townsend was placed hors due combat by Solomon Kell, will probably be filed as soon as Townsend gets into a presentable condition." "The suit of Caleb Townsend against Solomon Koll was dismissed in the superior court this morning. It was filed several years ago to recover damanage for an assault."
