link Caleb4 Lane (Joseph3, John2, James1), son of Joseph and Deborah (Haraden) Lane was born at Annisquam - the third parish of Gloucester 16 Nov 1729 and died there 10 Feb 1783. He married with intention recorded 15 Nov 1752, Lydia Riggs who was born 11 Dec 1728 and died 21 Mar 1812 daughter of Aaron and Thomasine (Wentworth) Riggs. Caleb and Lydia (Riggs) Lane's fine slate gravestones in Bayview cemetary in Lanesville, Gloucester. They were transcribed by Fitts. He served in the revolution with his eldest son Caleb 20 Jan 1776 - 18 Nov 1776 in the coastal defense militia. Babson stated he had 10 children only three births were recorded (Lydia, Caleb and Zaccheus) by the town but the bp of the rest are recorded at the church at Annisquam.
Four Lanes including Celab Lane married a woman of Royal Descent. Lydia Riggs wife of Caleb4 Lane was a great-grandaughter of Elder Wiliam1 Wentworth of Exeter, New Hampshire. Lydia (Riggs) Lane's parentage is proven by her extant letter of complaint about her brother's parsimonious handling of their late father's estate in Aaron Rigg' probate file (Essex Probate 23681.She died 21 Mar 1812 Gloucester [citing gravestone recorded in Rev. James Hill Fitts, Lane Genealogies (1900-2) 3:208 see also 1:61]. Caleb5 Lane cited family bible records as well. Her estate was probated 5 Jan 1813 [Essex Probate 16332].
