-- Enlisted in the Army for the first World War. He lied about his age for a few

    months before he was 18.  He left his Senior High school clas
    Broadway High School of Seattle,  in the  Spring of his senior year to
    enlist.  He made it in the Army to Fort Dix, New Jersey awaiti
    shipment overseas when the    Armistice was signed in Novembe
    never got to Europe, quite disappointed; and he never graduat
    High School.  He was later drafted in the 1940's for World War II.
