In Berlin, Rensselaer Co., N. Y., March 20th, Burton Green, son of John and Tabitha Green, in the twenty-third year of his age. Brother Green was a member of the Seventh-day Baptist Church in Berlin, and from the time of his conversion to Christ until his death, embracing a period of about seven years, he manifested great steadfastness of faith. In this early and lamented death, the church militant has been deprived of one who was constant in his attendance upon the appointments for public religious worship, and ready in the performance of Christian duty. He was remarkable among all classes for an earnest and practical piety. For several years he was a teacher and superintendent in the Sabbath School. Among the many who shared his acquaintance, not one was ever known to become his enemy. His gentle demeanor won for him many and constant friends, beyond the pale of the church, who loved him in life, and mourning, followed him to the grave. But the virtues so apparent in health and active life were still more conspicuous in his sickness and death. The disease which finally wore out the suffering victim, was an affection of the spine about the vertebrae of the neck. His confinement extended more than ten months, characterized by almost constant and often excruciating pain. But during the whole time, no sigh, or groan, or word of murmur or complaint, escaped his lips; a holy fortitude and Christian patience shone conspicuously among his heavenly graces. In this immediate prospect of death, he said to his friends, "Weep not for me, but weep for yourselves." Let this be said as a memorial to him. "He taught us how to live; and oh! Too high the price of knowledge, taught us how to die." L. C. R.
