12/31/2007: In 1930 US Census, for John Murtha and Loretta McGinnis, a "Bridget Mulligan" is listed as mother-in-law. Mulligan does not match either last name for John or Loretta. Not sure if this is Brigget Farren or the mother of John Murtha. Age 61 means birthdate around 1869.

She is listed as Widowed but Age at First Marriage is 30. This does not jive with the birthdates of the McGinnes girls. So either they were born out of wedlock or this is not the same Bridget. Also, perhaps she remarried to a Mr. Mulligan.

She was born in Northern ireland as were her parents and she could read, write and speak English. Her date of immigration is listed as 1883 but she was not naturlized as of 1930.

In 1920 US Census for the same John Murtha, he is shown as the son of a Bridget Murtha age 58 - puts her birthdate at abt 1862. She was a widow and married to James Murtha who shows up in the 1910 Census.

In the New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957, Year: 1885; Arrival: New York , United States; Microfilm serial: M237; Microfilm roll: M237_486; Line: 26; List number: 615.

Bridget "Faran" arrived in New York on May 25, 1885 on the Aurania. On the same passenger list is the Martin family which Therese McGinnes Austin often talked about. James Martin 44, Mary Martin 46. The Martins were from County Clare while Bridget Faran was from Belfast in Northern Ireland.
