  10.   Boyd Crumrine: Writer & Historian, in Observer-Reporter (Washingto, Pa.)
    28 Jun 1980.

Boyd Crumrine, a prominent lawyer and historian, was very much a part of the Washington scene for more than half a century. Born in East Bethlehem Township, Washington County, to Daniel and Margaret Crumrine Feb. 9, 1838, he spent his earty years on the family farm.

The Crumrines had emigrated to America in the middle of the 18th century from Germany and Boyd's grandfather had crossed the Alleghenies in 1800 and settled in the Monongahela Valley. In the early days the family name was spelled “Krumrein”; it was George Lenhart Krumrein who had settled in Baltimore County, Md., after arriving in America in 1748 aboard the Edinburgh from Rotterdam. His grandson, George, was the one who had decided to move westward to the lovely valley beyond the mountains.
