Birdie Juanita Peavler, age 70, of Rutledge went to be with the Lord Dec. 31, 2011. She was a member of Noah's Chapel Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Gale Peavler; sons, George and Dale Peavler; parents, Paul and Pearl Hickey; sister, Ethel Hickey; and brother, Lonnie Hickey.
Survivors include daughters, Gail Johnson of the home, Nina (Rick) Owens; son, David (Lacousby) Peavler, all of Rutledge; grandchildren, Dale and Dewayne Johnson of the home, Ricky Owens, Heather Scearce, David and Joshua Peavler, Amanda Cummins, and George Peavler Jr.; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Lockie Owens of Rutledge, Linda Cartwright of Indiana, Debbie Long of Bean Station; brother, Haskel Hickey of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 in the chapel of Smith-Reagan Funeral Home in Rutledge with the Rev. Lawrence Whitt, the Rev. Tony Collins, and the Rev. T.H. Ferrell officiating.
Interment will follow in Helton Springs Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be George Peavler Jr., Dale Johnson, Ricky Owens, James Jarnagin, Billy Conley, Jesse Cummings, Dustin Cameron, and Danny Reagan; with honorary pallbearers, Rick Owens and Sam Scearce.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
