BIRTH: 21 Dec 1903; MARRIAGE 29 Aug 1925, per granddaughter Tammy Stewart.
Bill's grandparents were Benjamin Franklin Stewart and Callie Leaver. The Leaver family was from Switzerland. BF Stewart was a school teacher in Mississippi, then they moved to Louisiana. He served in the cavalry (CSA) during the Civil War, while Callie returned to her family in Mississippi. His arm was amputated after being wounded. They came to Texas about 1870. They are mentioned as transfers from Eureka to the Blanket Circuit [Methodist Church] records of 1881. [reference is also made to property bought 18 Jul 1877 - SW Quarter of Section 9, HT & BRR survey. This location is immediately west of the property bought by Alvis A Ashley in 1907 - young Bill & Ione were next-door neighbors.]
