HAW RIVER — Mrs.. Jackie Thompson Leach, 76, of 1750 U.S. 70 West, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at her home after several months of failing health.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Howard Cleatus Leach, and the daughter of Mr. Alfred Haywood Thompson and Mrs.. Helen Gillespie Thompson, both deceased. She was the former owner of L&W Sand and Stone Inc. and was a member of Haw River United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs.. Donna Ucciardi of Virginia Beach, Va., Ms. Cassandra “Cissy” Williams of San Diego, Ms. Betty Jo Dunn of Haw River, and Ms. Jane Sykes of Graham; two sons, Mr. Howard “Buster” Leach of Mebane and Mr. Jeffrey Leach of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs.. Jack (Jean) Faucette of Burlington and Mrs.. Jack (Jeanette) Piper of Knoxville, Tennessee; a brother, Mr. Jimmy Thompson of Haw River; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Ted Leach; two sisters, Ms. Norma Faucette and Ms. Colleen May; and two brothers, Mr. Al Thompson and Mr. Ted Thompson.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham by the Rev. James Rosser, pastor of Haw River Christian Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina.

The family will be at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home of a son, Mr. Buster Leach, 908 Cooks Mill Road, Mebane.
