Lois Rainey, Obit: Betty Lois Terwilliger, daughter of Gay Miller and Edna Pearl Axtell Terwilliger, was born December 23, 1922 near Lesanville, Ringgold county, Iowa and passed away September 11, 2003 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa. Lois graduated fro Mount Ayr high school in 1942. On April 3, 1943, she was united in marriage to Ivan William Rainey in Grant City, Missouri. To this union three children were born: two sons, David and Ro, and one daughter, Joyce. Lois was a person who enjoyed being outside. She especially liked gardening and flowers. She enjoyed working alongside of Ivan with the farming operation. She really enjoyed working with the farm animals. She and Ivan enjoyed going to dances and spending time with friends in the Kellerton community. In her later years it means a great deal to Lois to be able to go to 'coffee' with her friends on a daily basis. Lois enjoyed her family including grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She lived her entire life in Ringgold county except for a brief period of time when Ivan was stationed in Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ivan, grandson Mark Allen Rouse; two brothers, Jack and Lee Terwilliger; and three sisters, LaVilla Klos, Oy Webb and Zoe Canny. Survivors include David Rainey ad wife Karen of Des Moines, Iowa, Ron Rainey of Ellston, Iowa and Joyce Madden and husband Mike of Leon, Iowa; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, one sister Georgia Shaha of Mount Ayr; two sisters-in-laws, Lola Terwilliger of Kellerton and Wilma Terwilliger of Mount Ayr, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2003 at the United Methodist Church in Kellerton, Iowa with Reverend Rick Hawkins and Kevin Smith officiating. Musicians wer Sandy Campbell and Richard Jackson. Casketbearers were Shawn Rainey, Troy Withee, James Madden, Tyler Rainey, James Rouse, and Greg Powell...Lois was laid to rest in the Maple Row Cemetery in Kellerton. |
