Evelyn "Betty" B. Jones of Byron age 82 Died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Memorial Healthcare Center, Owosso Funeral mass will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, October 14, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Rd., Gaines Father Robert McKeon celebrant Burial in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Gaines Visitation at the Streeter Funeral Home, 507 W. Maple, Byron on Wednesday from 2-8 PM and Thursday at the church from 12 noon until the time of mass. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Food Pantry.

Evelyn was born in Verona, North Dakota on April 8, 1928 the daughter of Edward and Mary (Sedlak) Kelly. She married Don Jones in Angola, IN on October 28, 1950. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1994. She lived in the Byron area since 1936.

Evelyn was a graduate of Byron High School, Class of 1946 and Mott Community College. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Gaines, the Shiawassee County Democratic Party, the Board of Canvasser of Shiawassee County and the Rauch-Tower VFW Post #5822 Auxilliary.

Evelyn worked at AC Spark Plug in Flint. She did tax preparation and bookkeeping at H&R Block in Howell for 10 years and Jones Business Service for 20 years.

Surviving are her Daughter-- Rebecca and husband Lothair Hardesty of Fenton Sons-- Theodore Jones of Swartz Creek

Grandchildren-- Autumn Doutchev, Katrina Davie, Heather Browning, Janelle Slomkowski and Sari Kivela 12 great grandchildren Sister-- Peggy (Garreth) Gunderson of Afton, MN Sister-in-Law-- Judy Kelly of Bay City Many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews Special friend-- Bonnie Slocum She was also preceded in death by 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
