Betty Ruth (Bargsley) Howton was born November 17, 1926, in Caddo, Texas, and passed away on December 18, 2017, at the age of 91.
She was laid to rest next to her late husband Aaron Howton at Mount Zion, La Casa Community in Stephens County.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ranger for many years. Betty graduated from Caddo High School in 1944.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, James Francis and Geneva (Gandy) Bargsley, sisters Mabel Newnham and Delma Cantwell, brothers, Virgil, James, Madison and Coy Bargsley.
She is survived by sister, Ruby Leonard of Abilene.
Betty and her childhood sweetheart Aaron E. Howton, Jr. married on Aug. 23, 1947, in Mineral Wells. They lived most of their 54 years of married life in Ranger and Weatherford. Aaron preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2001.
She is survived by son, Eddy Howton (Nelda), daughters Peggy Puckett (Jerry), and Brenda Hall (Bobby); six grandchildren: Stacy (Howton) Randolph, Jason Howton, Clayton and Colton Puckett, Robert and Luke Hall, nine great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Betty focused on encouraging children to read and expand their world. She served as a Children's Librarian at Weatherford Public Library and enjoyed a career as sales representative for World Book in the '60s. She loved playing the piano, gardening, fishing and caring for her pets.
