Bridges, who died Friday, July 9, in a Mansfield hospital, after a brief illness, were held Saturday, July 10, at the First Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, at 4 p.m. The Rev. George Sherman, pastor of the church, had charge of the services. He was assisted by the Rev. W. H. Bengson Jr., pastor of the First Methodist Church of Mansfield. Active pallbearers were Roy Bush Bridges, Leon Bridges, Rembert Gust Bridges, Kermie Valentine, Charles Valentine, Boyd Smith, Sonny Hardee, and Jack Lucius of Many. Honorary pallbearers were W. H. McFerrin, Jesse Wells, and Malin Mary. Interment was in the Spring Ridge Cemetery, under the direction of the Drewett Funeral Home. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Betye Notar of Mojave, California, Mrs. Elmer Shaughnessy, New Iberia; two sons, Rembert C. Bridges, Mansfield, and Bland Bridges of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Frank Rembert of Shreveport, and Robert Rembert of Vivian; several grandchildren; and several great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.
