Sethiah's son Ezekiel was not immediately named after his birth. When Sethiah was brought to court in 1773 to answer charges of fornication, she would not name the baby's father. However, in January 1776 a child named Ezekiel Johnson is recorded as residing with his unmarried mother Sethiah Guernsey, her mother and stepfather, and Sethiah's siblings. Sethiah's intent to marry Jonathan King was also recorded in 1776 (Massachusetts Vital Records, as researched in Cluff & Gibson, pg. 34).
