Bertha Elnora, eldest daughter of Edward and Caroline Crumrin, was born in Melrose Township March 15, 1893. She died at her home in West Union, January 4, 1919, aged nearly 26 years. She was married to Burl Medsker, September 15, 1909 and to them four children were born; three of whom with the husband survive. She became a member of the Baptist church a few years ago and remained of that faith until her death. Bertha was never very strong, yet her last illness was of short duration and through all of her suffering she showed that she was well spiritually. As she lay in the casket in her white robe with her tiny babe beside her she looked as if she was in a quiet sleep. Besides the immediate family, she leaves a father, step-mother, one sister and three brothers. One brother is in France, one in the Navy and one living on the old homestead in Melrose Township. The community extends sympathy to the bereft ones. Short funeral services were conducted at the family residence by Rev. Ross McCrory. Interment was in the Shawler Cemetery.
