Facts and Events
He was a buisnessman in Westphalia. For a time he was also postmaster of the town of Schoppingen. He came with his family leaving the port of Bremen on the ship GEORGE SKOLFIELD. They arrived in N.Y. 21 Sept 1848. They traveled by lake and rail to Watertown WI. In 1849 he bought the Buena Vista House (hotel) there and opperated it until 1855, when hje sold it to A. Meiswinkel. in It later reverted to Wiggenhorn, however and he leased it to his son Eugene to operate. He was a Roman Catholic and a member of the Democratic Party. |
