(Research):The following, taken from the Qu√©bec legislative assembly web-site, was graciously submitted and translated by Martin Delisle: Jean-Bernard PELLETIER (1739-1816) He was born in Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies, and was baptized on 30 August 1739, in that parish. He was the son of Jean-Bernard Peltier (Pelletier) and of Marthe Brisson. Sometimes called only Bernard, his family name was also spelled Peltier. He was a farmer. He was elected bailiff of Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies, 8 July 1770; he was responsible, among other things, of bridge and road surveillance, arresting criminals and examination of corpses which showed signs of violence. He was elected member of the legislative assembly for Devon in 1800; he took part in the votes of only two parliementary sessions and voted with the "Parti Canadien". He probably did not seek reelection in 1804. He died in Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies on 21 April 1816, at the age of 76 years and 7 months. His funeral was held in the parish church on 23 April 1816. He married in his native parish, on 3 October 1762, Marie-Joseph Caron, daughter of Louis Caron and Marie-Fran√[section sign]oise Gagnon.
