Bernadine West

Bernadine Long West, 76, of Evansville, died Wednesday afternoon at Deaconess Hospital.

She worked at Deaconess Hospital for 10 years.

She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and Central High School class of 1939 and former secretary and treasurer of the Warrick County Homemakers Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Bettina Joyce Haltiwanger of North Charleston, S.C.; three sons, Gaither Glennis II of Goose Creek, S.C., and John Gregory and Donald G., both of Evansville; four brothers, Arthur E., Patrick Russell and Paul Wayne Long, all of Evansville, and James Long of Holly Ridge, N.C.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Gaither Glennis West, died in 1973.

Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Ziemer Funeral Home East, continuing at 9 a.m. at St. Benedict Church, the Rev. Harold Hammerstein and Monsignor Clarence Lindauer officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where memorial services will be at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
