Berman was 18 and a paratrooper in the U. S. Army during WWll. He was stationed in England during the war and participated in the liberation of Paris. He was a big guy and came across as being pretty gruff but had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Obit: Fairbanks, Berman Hayes, 83, of Minnetonka. Enrolled member of White Earth Reservation. Preceded in death by mother, Winnie Jourdain; sister, Lois Favorite. Survived by wife, Patricia; son, Brad; daughter, Judy; grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Past Commander of Court House Post #310. Member of Bellentine VFW and 40 & 8. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Winnie Jourdain White Earth Tribal College Scholarship Fun, 202 Main St., Mahnomen, MN 56557.
