Emigration

Bergitte emigrated to the USA with her sister Janna around 1912.

In 1914 she was "employed a little over four months past as waitress and parlormaid, at the cottage of our place occupied by Mrs Grant", married to Ulysses Grant III, note signed by Mrs Clara Root.

Marriage

Bergitte married Japanese emigrant Jisaburo (George) 29 April 1915. They had three children.

It is oral history only that says Bergette was to sail to America on the Titanic, but her alarm clock did not go off and therefore she overslept and missed the boat. This has yet to be proven either way but quite interesting to pursue.
