    "40. Benjamin5 Upson (Benjamin4, Stephen3, Stephen2, Thomas1). Born July 3, 1752, Northbury Parish. Died March 12, 1824, Waterbury, and buried in Grand Street Cemetery with his wife. Married January 24, 1780, Mary, daughter of Daniel and Mary (Bronson) Hine, and widow of Thomas Clark. She born July 9, 1742. Died June 13, 1816. … Benjamin Upson, from 1777-1779, was a private in Lieutenant-Colonel Baldwin's Company. In 1777, Lieutenant-Colonel Baldwin was stationed at Fishkill on the Hudson as part of the force to guard the Highlands and prevent the enemy below from communicating with General Burgoyne, who was coming down from the North. Several companies of Waterbury men, much reduced in numbers, were there with Lieutenant-Colonel Baldwin. Benjamin was also in Captain Curtiss’ Company in 1779 to repel Tryon's Invasion."
