Facts and Events
[edit] Information on Benjamin StacyBenjamin Stacy (son of Simon Stacy and Judith Tolson) was born April 07, 1744 in Overwharton Parish Stafford County Virginia, and died Aft. 1810 in Jackson Tennesse. He married Anne Combs in Frederick County Virgina, daughter of Mason Combs. Ann Combs (Mason, Sr., John, Archdale), born 18 Mar 1742/3, Overwharton Parish, Stafford Co, VA; d aft 1801; m ca 1763(?), probably in Frederick Co, VA; Benjamin STACY, Sr. (s/o Simon & Judith TOLSON Stacy (Pettit), Sr.), b 7 Apr 1744, Overwharton Parish, Stafford Co, VA; d aft 1815(?) Ann is documented as a daughter of Mason Combs, Sr. by (a) the Overwharton Parish Register of Stafford Co, VA, which lists her 18 Mar 1742/3 birth as: "Anne Combs, daughter of Mason and Sarah Combs;" and (b) Combs-Stacy Oral Family History. Her father moved his family to Frederick Co, VA shortly after 1751, and it may have been in this county ca 1763, that Ann and Benjamin STACY, Sr., married. In 1768 Benjamin is listed on the Rowan Co, NC Tax List of Gideon WRIGHT with his father-in-law, Mason Combs, Sr., brothers-in-law, William Combs, Sr. (m Seth STACY), William CODY (m Sinai STACY); and William RIDGE (m Winnifred Combs). In 1771 and 1772, Benjamin is listed on a Surry Co, NC tax list, again with Mason, Sr. and William Combs, William and Godfrey CODY, and William RIDGE, plus his step-father, Thomas PETTIT (2nd husband of his mother, Judith TOLSON Stacy). Benjamin seems to disappear from the records for a number of years, and it is not certain (partially due to spotty tax lists) whether he was still in Surry Co, NC or if he had moved on. During the Revolutionary War, although his Cody, Combs, and Ridge in-laws, and John STACY are mentioned frequently in the Estate file of William RIDGE, Benjamin himself is not specifically noted. Children of Benjamin Stacy and Anne Combs are:
