Benjamin Post, who was one of the successful farmers of Nassau county, Long Island, was born at East Meadow, August 5, 1823, a son of Jothan Post, who was also born at East Meadow, Long Island. Benjamin Post received his education in the common schools of his native town: when he attained young manhood he decided to become a farmer, and continued at that occupation for the remainder ot his life. In 1866 he removed from East Meadow to Westbury Station, and was a resident of that town until his death, which occurred on November 2, 1896. His widow and three children are still living on the homestead. Air. Post was a Republican in politics, and a man well known in his county.

In 1844 Air. Post was united in marriage to Aliss Jemima Brower, daughter of Parominus Brower of East Meadow, and nine children were born to them, eight of whom are living at the present time, namely: Mary Emma, wife of Charles H. Seaman; Sarah Jane, wife of Charles A. Baylis; Anna, wife of B. S. Jackson; Elizabeth, wife of Robert Burgess ; John B., who lives in Connecticut; Frances, who married Franklin S. Terrell, of Woodbury; Adeline, who is single ; and Peter C. Post, who is in charge of the old home farm and is unmarried.
