"Philip Johnston married Elizabeth Taylor (was she related to James Taylor who married Betty Wyatt?), in Goochland County, Va., Nov. 7, 1771.With their children, they moved from Caroline County, Va., to Lexington, Ky.Their children were 1. Thomas Wyatt Johnston, who m. Sarah Smith and has Thomas W., Philip, Geo. W., Albert G., Joseph Smith, Elizabeth Ann, who m. Benj. R. Pollard, of Louisville; Mary, who married her cousin, Edmund Pendleton Thomas, and Lucinda, who m. Dr. L. D. Owens.2. Philip Johnston; 3. Cathrine, who m. 1st, Richard Payne of Goochland County, Va., m. 2nd her cousin, Rowland Thomas (father of Edmund P. Thomas, above); by her second married she had 11 children, but I only have the names of six, Rowland, b. 1798, m. Feb. 19, 1819, Mary Smith Johnston, dau. of Thomas Wyatt Johnston (above), and had eight children, James; Lucy Ann, who m. a Mr. Dupuy, Harriett, who m. a Mr. Long, Betsy, who m. Herndon Allen, and Catherine Thomas, who m. Warner Brashear. 4. Elizabeth Johnston, who married Joseph Morton Payne, and 5. Frances Johnston, who m. Jesse Payne."
