"Peat, Benjamin, s. of John. Will 14 Apr. 1704, proved 12 July 1704; eldest son Benjamin; son Samuel; dau. Mary Burrit had portion at marriage; residue to wife Phebe, Exec'x. Inv. June 1704. Married Phebe Butler, dau. of Richard. Wife was called Phebe at birth of child 1677. He d. at Stratford, 1 May 1704. His widow was living 1725. Phebe Peat of Stratford conveyed 24 Feb. 1724/5 to son Samuel "for his inCourigment towards My Maintenance & support in my old age" all right from the estate of my father Richard Butler and from the estate of my Dear Husband Benjamin Peat dec'd. Benjamin Peat and Samuel Peat, Jr., conveyed 1713, land from grandfather Richard Butler dec'd."
