Benjamin3 Hoyt, b. Dec. 9, 1671; m. Elizabeth Jagger, June 10, 1697; lived in Stamford; d. 1747. Benj. Hoyt Jr. bought "land on the hills," Dec. 25, 1699. Benj. Hait Jr. bought house, barn, and home-lot, May, 1704; and Benj. Sen. deeded to his eldest son, Benj. Jr., house and lot, Jan., 1704-5. The ear-mark of Benj. Jr. was ent. at S. in 1705. He bought land on E. side of Mill River, March, 1707-8. Benj. Hayt Jr. also bought other land in S., April, 1709; and land was laid out to him on W. side of Mill River, the same month. Other lots were also laid oat to Benj. Hait Jr. on his father's right, in 1710; and on the right of Jeremy Jagger, dec'd, in 1709. At least thirty more of his deeds, dated from 1709 to 1746, are recorded at S. He was selectman of S. four years, in 1719 and later. Both Benj. and his wife Eliz. were memb. S. chh., Dec., 1746, the earliest rec. preserved. He was Jr. till his father's death, in 1735. In 1743-4 he gave houses and lands to each of his seven sons; but the invent, of his est. amounted to £2131. His will, rec. at S., was dated Sep. 28, 1744, proved Aug., 1747. In it he mentions his wife Elizabeth, seven sons, and two daughters.
