1788,8,30. John, Isaac, Benjamin & James, s Isaac, recrq. (Hinshaw, p. 1031, Bush River, SC MM) ........... The research on this line of Benjamin, b. 1780, and Sarah (Unknown) was provide to me by descendant Judy Lorraine (Hawkins) Lewis, b. 1949 in Colorado Springs, CO. Phillip A. Hawkins, 2007. "I started researching land records in Knox(later Daveiss) Co. [IN]. I isolated 2 Hawkins families from SC in the correct time fame, William and Eli.." [sons of Benjamin & Martha Hollowell??] "I continued on to a little later land records to include John Hawkins and Benjamin Hawkins. [sons of Isaac & Margaret's??] The recording of the land records included all four of these Hawkins men. I concluded they were related." [An email from Judy Hawkins Lewis to Phil Hawkins 02 Dec 2006.][Benjamin was said have lived in Union Co SC until 1811.] 1816, 4 he purchased a land patent in Knox Co. (later Daviess Co.), east half of the se quarter, Section 14. George Gregory purchased the section next to Benjamin. In 1822 he was appointed "Overseer of the Poor" for Washington Twp. 1828 executor for the estate of George Gregory. 1840 Benjamin is not found in the census. Not sure if he has died or moved to another location, tried surrounding counties, with no luck.
