Benjamin Eck, eighty-five, died Saturday at his home, seventeen Genung street. He was born at Potterville, Town of Wawarsing, Ulster County, September fifteenth, 1853, a son of John and Caroline Herman Eck. His wife was Miss Alvina Devine, whom he married at Lackawack May third, 1873.

Living relatives include his wife and the following children: Norval Eck of Selkirk, N.Y., Mrs. Glennie Gossling of Ellenville; Arthur E. Eck of Napanoch; Bessie, wife of Claude Brown of Middletown; Florence, wife of Jessie Trosclair, Selkirk; Hattie, wife of David Quinn, Middletown; and Myrtle, wife of Raymond Corwin of Middletown. There are also fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother, Edwin Eck, and a sister, Mrs. Lena Herman of Lackawack.

The Rev. Richard T. Billingsley will officiate at funeral services. Burial will be in Fantinekill cemetery, Ellenville. --Middletown (NY) Times Herald-Record, Monday, October 10, 1938, page 6
