    BENJAMIN BOYENTON
    DIED
    Dec. 24, 1863,
    AE. 80.
[Note: as explained in the note below, this death date is presumed to be an error, since both this and death record agree on an age of 80, but the death record date aligns with the several census record, and this is 2 years off. There does not appear to be a probate, and a survey of deed yielded no relevant information.]

    p. 233.

Children of David Boynton, who lived in Wendall, MA, before moving to Hague, NY about 1822: 5) Benjamin. Resided Shutesbury, MA. Children: Samantha, Benjamin and one other.
[Note: despite the poor coverage, enough details are present to identify this as as this Benjamin. Neither man has a wife identified, no birth or death for Benjamin is gven, and only 3 of 11 known children are mentioned. However, deeds suggest a close relationship with Ezra Boynton and Isaac Boynton, shown here as brothers, so it seems that what is given, meager as it is, is probably correct.]

  7. No birth record has been located. Ambiguity is caused by a death record that says he died 1861 and the gravestone says he died 1863. The death record is on a fold or tear and although the date of death is clear, some of the other information is subject to interpretation. The information shown in the death record is the most likely value given what is known and what can be seen. The three census records show respectivley a birth in 1781, 1781, and 1782, so it is presumed the gravestone is incorrect.
