INFORMATION TAKEN FROM TEXAS DEATH CERTIFICATE
Ben J. Bassel was the son of Ben J. Bassel and Elizabeth Davenport, both of Georgia. He was born in Texas on September 16, 1874. He had been working as a cotton buyer at the time of his death on July 26, 1922, in Stephenville, Erath County, Texas, where he and his wife lived. He was 46 years 10 months 10 days old. Ben died from "starvation because of inability to swallow and assimulate food and drink - caused by slowly progressive paraylsis" the cause was unknown.
Dr. S.D. Naylor treated Ben from May 17, 1922 until the time of his death. He was buried July 26, 1922 in West End Cemetery in Stephenville. B.I. Trivetl, undertaker, handled the arrangements. Ben's brother, Reid Bassell, also of Stephenville, provided the information.
