Facts and Events
"White Creek" considers Benedict Dunfee and his family, as a part of the community of "English" ("Gamble Settlement") who settled early in the history of the Paw Paw Township area (before it had that name). There are a number of related families who inter-married with similar families of a similar background. These were pioneers, who had lived in America for generations, before they migrated to Wabash County (beginning in circa 1836). Some of the surnames of these related families, found in these WeRelate.org pages are: Abshire, Amber, Baker, Deardorf, Dunfee, Gamble, Jack, Joy, Long, Meek, Richards, Vanduyne, Way, and ........ BENEDICT is a link in a "loop" of individuals; who through several marriages, formed a "circle" linking many of the early pioneers (1836+) of Wabash County, including many of the later Palatine pioneers (1848) who were quite "different" culturally than the early "English" settlers. The "loop" can start with Benedict's daughter Eunice Dunfee (b. 1821), who married Josiah Richards (b.1816). Their daughter Margery (b. 1838) married Samuel Long (b. 1829). Their son, also named Samuel (b. 1863) married Lena Miller of a Palatine family. Lena's parents were Charles Miller (b. 1835) and Katherine Lower (b. 1844). Katherine's father was John Jacob Lower (b. 1821). John Jacob Lower had a brother, Peter Lower (b. 1830, who had a son, Samuel Lower (b. 1873). In 1897 Samuel Lower married Mary Dunfee (b. 1866) whose parents were William Jackson Dunfee (b. 1846) and Malinda Vanduyne (b. 1827). William Jackson Dunfee's father was Michael Dunfee (b. 1798). Michael was the son of our subject, Benedict! Which now brings us "full circle"! Now, if the reader can follow all that....... --White Creek 21:57, 14 June 2017 (UTC) References
