Barsina Rogers migrated to the Arizona region in 1867 along with her parents and siblings. Lillian Schlissel writes about her in the book: Women's Diaries of the Westward Journey. The appendix in the 1992 edition of Schlissel's book also includes a couple of pages from Barsina's diary (penmanship practice pages). Lillian Schissel describes her in the following excerpt: "Barsina Rogers was thirteen years old when her family took the southern route through Arizona Territory in 1867. She was a careful child who noted the water holes and the strange configurations of the land, but nothing daunted her as she continued to practice her penmanship and her grammar through the pages of her diary along the way."
