Barney purchased the land where the family is now located on Feb 1, 1837. The Russell Cemetery is right off the old family home. In 1901 this old home place was purchased by Huldah C (Russell) Morphew, the wife of John W. Morphew and the daughter of Barney Jr. and Elmira.

Barnabas is buried at the Russell Cemetery on County Line Road, Putnam County, Indiana. (Barney Russell 28 Feb 1777 - 28 March. 1864, age 87 years. 18 days)
