"Barbara "Bobbie" N. Wells, 84, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 30, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Indiana.

She was born in South Bend to Roy Elmer and Catherine Kate [Horvath] Norris. Bobbie grew up in South Bend were she graduated from Riley high school. During the war she worked at Ball Band, and after that was a homemaker and did retail sales. On December 2, 1952, she married Harold Wells, and they made their home in Mishawaka where they owned and operated a grocery store on East end. Bobbie was a member of Grace Brethren Church and was an avid Cubs and Braves baseball fan. In her younger days she played amateur softball and enjoyed bowling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; a son, Rudolph G. Kovach, Jr.; two sisters, Peg Felty and Frances Kovach; and by three brothers, Pete Norris, George Norris and William Norris.

Bobbie's surviving family includes her son, former mayor of Mishawaka, Robert Kovach, and his wife, Barbara of Mishawaka; a sister, Jane Sechowski of Florida; two stepsons, William and Robert Wells; three grandchildren, Christie Kovach, Katie Kovach, and Rudy Kovach; two step grandchildren; Joseph Szeltner and David Szeltner; and by five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM today, August 1, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, 503 West 3rd Street, Mishawaka. Services for Bobbie will be private. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to Grace Brethren International Missions. Envelopes are available at the funeral home."

"Mishawaka -- Barbara "Bobbie" N. Wells, 84, of Orange Avenue, died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Survivors include a son, Robert Kovach of Mishawaka; two stepsons, William and Robert Wells; and a sister, Jane Sechowski of Brookville, Florida. Private services will be held. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Friday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home."
