    Barbara Jean (Folsom) Stewart, 88, of Flemington, WV, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 30, 1929 in Yakima, Washington, a daughter of the late Everett L. and Mary Alice Folsom.
    In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Stewart in 1974; two sisters: Frances Supple and Marian Stewart; a daughter-in-law, Angie Stewart; and a great-granddaughter, Angela Claypole.
    Barbara graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She was the first Head Start teacher in Taylor County when the program was first initiated in 1965. The program was for 5 year olds and was under the Taylor County Board of Education. Barbara retired from the Taylor County Senior Citizens, Inc. after holding positions including outreach worker, van driver, and finally as the executive director.
    Mrs. Stewart is survived by two daughters: Janice Pratt (Rick) and Charlene Moore (Bill) both of Flemington; sons: Curtis Stewart (Mary) of Morgantown, and David Stewart (B.J.) of Rosemont; ten grandchildren: Scott Whitehair, Stewart Whitehair (Ann), Heidi Zbosnik (Dennis), Kent Whitehair (Kelsey), Stacy Moore, Dana Stewart (Joseph), Zachary Stewart (Keisha), Amy Pratt, Andrew Moore (Danielle), and Sara Roy (Jeremy); 22 great-grandchildren: Bryant Claypole, Trey and Alyssa Duckworth, Isaac, Eli, Hana, Zane, Matthew, and Paige Whitehair, Ashlyn and Avery Zbosnik, Tyler Stewart, Riley Martinez, Aubrey Roy, Ella, Bria and Jolie Moore, Brilyn Roy, Jaxson Pisino, Kinzley Waters, Jack Dodrill, and Andrew Caplinger.
    Barbara enjoyed going out-to-eat, watching T.V., reading magazines, her animals, and family get-togethers. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Taylor County Senior Citizens caregivers, Ellie Elsey and Tessie Walton, these girls became “family.” Also, thank you to Peoples Hospice, especially nurse, Tessa Yost, and aide Courtney Griffith, for taking such good care of her.
    Family and friends will be received at the Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home in Flemington, WV, on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 10am. Interment will follow at the Flemington I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Stewart Family during this time.
