Barbara was born in Long Beach, CA. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years "Whitey" just a year ago; her parents Ross and Dorothy Chambers, and her son Loyd Jr. USMC. She is survived by her sons: Eric and Christopher of Palm Desert; two grandchildren: Katie and Axel and two great-grandchildren: Elijah and Ezra.
Barbara led a rich and full life; living out an amazing love story that started at UCLA with the love of her life: Loyd Sr. They were married June 14, 1942. She was a music major at UCLA; and worked tirelessly for the Alpha Phi sorority. She spent many charitable hours with the Assistance League of Southern California. Later she would bring her "Volunteer" organizational skills to The L.A. Childrens Hospital where she was on the board of directors. While living in L.A. they spent time in Brentwood, Hancock Park, and Manhattan Beach. They eventually retired to Marrakesh CC in Palm Desert. She played a little golf, but truly enjoyed a game of Bridge with the girls. Her love of music was fulfilled by the programs at St. Margaret's. "What an extraordinary couple; just being in their presence was an education on how to live life. Their love and devotion was evidenced by everything they accomplished."
