Information posted by Alex Thompson: Asa TINNIN was a Private in the 1st Regt. Miss. Territorial Volunteers during the War of 1812. He moved the family to Hinds Co. MS by 1822, when he first appeared on a Tax list there. Land records show he acquired considerable land in Hinds Co. from 1824 to 1844, and appeared on the 1830 and 1840 Federal Censuses. His name is seen on the Index to the 1845 Mississippi State Census of Hinds Co., but he is missing from the 1850 Fenderal Census.
